12pm-1:30pm @ Law School: Rally calling on Michael Sovern to end Sotheby’s Worker Lockout.  (Columbia’s Ex-President and current Chancellor Kent Professor of Law is the Chairman of the Board of Sotheby’s.)

12 – 7pm: Tabling and Graffiti Wall of Grievances in the GC Lobby. Get militant teaching materials, find out about the week’s CUNY and Citywide student events including the student strike, connect with folks, and express your discontent, grievances, and questions!!

Friday, N18: Occupation Day

A New Occupation has been opened in a New School building. This space has been occupied with the intent of opening it up for public use as a place for teach-ins, student organizing and planning, and for participatory decision making. The space is located at 90 5th avenue (above 14th street), and is currently open to anybody with a student ID. We are negotiating with the administration about ID checks at the door (as of now New School Security still monitors the entrance, while the second floor occupied space is autonomous), and hopefully the space will soon be open to public use. — Come join us and participate in building this occupation… and building this movement.

2:00 – 4:00 pm: CRITICAL CURRENTS WALKING TOUR: Student Activism and Sites of Oppression @ Low Plaza: a moving teach-in on the history of bias incidents, hate crimes, and oppressive university actions, student and community activist responses, and how the struggle continues today.

CUNY-WIDE WALK OUT IN PROTEST OF THE TUITION HIKES

City College

1pm: Stand up, walk out, come to the NAC Plaza, and let your voice be heard! Then after rallying for a little bit at City, students and teachers will head downtown to Madison Sq. Park to march on the CUNY Board of Trustees meeting.

OWS: Debt Refusal Pledge Group

1:30 pm:  Launch of the “Student Debt Refusal Pledge.” Campaign will launch with a big media event @ Liberty Square. We will then travel en mass to the city-wide student protests at Baruch College against the CUNY tuition hikes. Standing together against tuition hikes will symbolically and politically fuse the question of student debt with the struggles over public eduction.
